Dr. Svend Erik Sørensen

Svend Erik Sørensen has an educational and research background in Meat Science and was until 1990 working at the Danish Meat Research Institute mainly with R&D projects focusing on innovation and technical development in the meat industry. Since 1990 he has been employed at Danish Crown – one of the globally leading international meat companies – with responsibilities within strategic development including strategic R&D. As such, he was chairman of the steering group responsible for 300 M€ investment in Danish Crowns high-tech meat factory in Horsens. Today, he is also a board member of the Danish Strategic Research Council as well as a member of the high level group in the Manufuture ETP.

High speed disassembly of varying and delicate biological objects – a case of advanced and adaptive industrial manufacturing

A case of development and industrial application of advanced automation and manufacturing technology from the food industry will be presented, based on Danish Crowns high tech meat factory in Horsens. The applied technology is a result of a strategic R&D program addressing advanced automation challenges in terms of adaptation to hand intelligent handling of biological variation in manufacturing objects, productivity and improvement of working environment.
