Presentation

 Personalization as a paradigm changer

Personalization is a concept that goes one step beyond customization. It encompasses morphometry to adapt consumer goods to the part of the body that relate to its use, advanced automated design, enabling technologies and new processes that produce them to unique measurements with advanced  functionalities that range from personal aesthetics to comfort and usabiility. Design, new technologies and ICT play an important role in this change of paradigm

Reaching this level of personalization typically sets a change of paradigm regarding the usual scenario of consumer goods production, marketing and sales and produces new business models that funnel creativity into very high added value products.

The presentation shows the results of MADE4U, a project devoted to the full personalization of spectacles including frames and lenses, along with the large implications for the market and the production sites that the related change in paradigm represents.
