Dr. Inge Genne

Inge Genné is a Programme manager at VITO (Flemish institute for technological Research), is heading a research team of about 45 people, executing the programme of membrane engineering, chemical applications and industrial water treatment. She has extensive international experience in the area of membrane technology, industrial water management and sustainable chemistry. In the area of nanotechnology, she is coordinating the Nano4water cluster and the Nametech project. She is board member of the European, Dutch and Belgian membrane society and is member of the „Water in industry‟ group of the WssTP.

The Nano4water cluster: Emerging European Nanotechnology, Materials and Process Innovations for Water Purification

The nano4water cluster (http://nano4water.eu/) started with six collaborative projects co-funded by the Research DG of the EC following a Joint Call on nanotechnologies for water treatment (FP7-ENV-NMP-2008-2). In 2012, the cluster has expanded to 16 finishing, ongoing and starting FP7 projects dealing with nano approaches to water treatment. The aim of this action is to support research and technological development in the field of water treatment by applying developed or adapted engineered nanomaterials to promising separation, purification and detoxification technologies. This presentation will present an overview of the recent advancements and future prospects for emerging nanotechnology, materials and process Innovations in the area of for water purification.
