Aki Laiho has been working as the project manager and researcher for the Aalto University / GlobeNet project. His speciality areas are Demand/Supply Network management, global operations, and supply base management. Prior joining Aalto University he was working in mechanical and electronics industries internationally in several managerial and specialist positions.

Debating the Future of Global Manufacturing Systems/Networks Organization – Inputs from GlobeNet Project

The Finnish manufacturing industries, like the manufacturing in most of the western countries, is facing significant challenges through globalization. As a part of the GlobaNet project trends for industry evolution, and the changing operative models were identified.

In this presentation the likely future scenarios for Finnish manufacturing industry are elaborated, and requirements for future competitiveness are discussed.
