The city
Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city, is a city of growth. Whilst it was founded by the Vikings in the 8th century, the city now lays claim to being one of the youngest cities in the country, with a population whose average age is lowered by the presence of students at 25 educational and research institutions. The city is undergoing rapid development, with the inner portion of the Port of Aarhus being transformed in to a new multi-use urban area.
